- 👥 The 3D animated Fluent emoji designs found within Microsoft Teams are now available to view on Emojipedia.
- 🦄 JoyPixels released version 7.0 of their freemium emoji set.
- 📺 A new video series has been launched on the Emojipedia YouTube channel: Emojis Across The World. The first installment is available to view now.
- 🟢 We teamed up with WhatsApp to help announce that the messaging platform would be expanding its emoji reaction feature, and provided insight into the meaning of some of the most popular new reaction options.
- 🌐 The Emojipedia site is now available in five additional global languages: Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, and Italian.
📈 Statistics
- Global emoji use has never been higher, with June and July thus far overtaking the previous peak of December 2021.
- Drawing from over 400 million tweets since September 2021, the Most Popular New Emoji from Emoji 14.0 was found to be the 🥹 Face Holding Back Tears.
- Slack and Duolingo teamed up to survey hybrid works across the globe about their emoji use and understanding - and found some very interesting cultural differences.

🏆 World Emoji Awards
The 2022 World Emoji Awards results are in, and here are all the winners!
- The Most Anticipated Emoji is the Pink Heart emoji, a current draft candidate for Emoji 15.0 and long-requested addition to the emoji keyboard.
- 🥹 Face Holding Back Tears is the Most Popular New Emoji across the globe, with 🫶 Heart Hands and 🫠 Melting Face in second and third place respectively. Revealed on The Morning Show Australia.
- The classic ❤️ Red Heart has received a Lifetime Achievement Award for being one of the most enduringly popular emojis and in a sense the one that started it all back on Japanese pagers in 1995. Revealed on the Ray D'Arcy Radio Show on RTE in Ireland.
- Finally, The Most 2022 Emoji is the 🫠 Melting Face, beating out the 🥹 Face Holding Back Tears in the final round. Revealed on FOX Weather in the United States.
